Legal
Terms and Conditions
Key points. This summary helps you find the most important rules. It does not replace the clauses below, which are the binding terms.
- You must be at least 18, or older where the law of the place where you live requires it, and you must not live in or play from a restricted territory (Annex A).
- RUST50/50 is a one-against-one coinflip in which two players stake Rust items. Your chance of winning equals your share of the pot value. Equal stakes give exactly 50/50. You can lose everything you stake.
- When a round settles we keep a house fee in whole items worth as close as possible to, but not more than, 8% of the pot value, with the 8% cap calculated to the nearest cent. It can be lower, including zero. It is not a percentage of profit.
- Every result comes from a provably fair calculation that you can check yourself. The result is fixed before the coin animation starts; the animation is only a display.
- Items are valued in US dollars for the purposes of the game only. We do not buy, sell or cash out items, and we do not guarantee what any item is worth.
- Steam's own rules and systems (Steam Guard, trade holds, account restrictions) apply to every trade. Valve can restrict accounts and items without our involvement.
- Real Steam trading is not enabled yet. The site currently runs a public test mode with simulated items that have no value.
1. Introduction and scope
1.1 These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Rust50 Entertainment Ltd ("we", "us", "our" or the "Operator"). They govern your access to and use of the RUST50/50 website at https://rust50.com, any subdomain of it that is approved under our licence, and every game, feature and service offered there (together, the "Service").
1.2 The following documents form part of these Terms and are binding on you: the Fairness and Round Verification page, the Privacy Policy, the Cookie and Local Storage Policy, the Responsible Gambling Policy, the Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Policy (the "AML and KYC Policy"), the Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure, the Promotions and Referral Terms and the Operator and Licence page. The Get started and FAQ page explains the same rules in practical steps; it is help text and does not change these Terms. If any of these documents conflicts with these Terms or with another of them, the following order of precedence applies:
- the terms of a specific promotion prevail, for that promotion only;
- the Promotions and Referral Terms prevail, for promotions and referrals;
- the AML and KYC Policy prevails, for identification, screening, monitoring, reporting and record keeping;
- the Responsible Gambling Policy prevails wherever it is more protective of the player;
- the Privacy Policy and the Cookie and Local Storage Policy prevail, for personal data;
- the Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure prevails, for complaint handling; and
- otherwise, these Terms prevail.
Nothing in any of those documents changes this order of precedence.
1.3 Please read these Terms carefully before you use the Service. Pay particular attention to clause 5 (who may play), clauses 8 to 12 (game rules, item values, the house fee and trades), clause 13 (errors and void rounds), clause 14 (prohibited conduct), clause 16 (suspension and closure), clause 23 (limitation of liability) and clause 25 (complaints).
1.4 Gambling involves risk. You can lose all the items you stake. Nothing on the Service is a promise of winnings, a way to double your items, an investment, or a way to solve financial difficulties. Stake only items you can afford to lose.
1.5 Current status: test mode. On the date of this draft, real Steam trading is disabled and the Service runs as a public test mode. In test mode:
- every item used in a round is a simulated item with no real-world value. Simulated items cannot be deposited from or withdrawn to a Steam account, and cannot be traded, sold, exchanged or redeemed for anything;
- item values are illustrative reference values set by the owner, not live market quotes;
- automated test opponents are simulated. They are not real players or Steam members, and they are labelled "TEST BOT". The sample rounds that may be waiting in the lobby, and the opponent you get when you choose "Play test bot", are created by these test bots;
- you play with a temporary test identity and a set of sample items that the Service gives you. Entering the test lobby is not a Steam sign-in, and a test identity is not an Account under these Terms, although the rules on prohibited conduct (clause 14) and chat (clause 15) still apply to anything you do with it;
- lobby figures, such as the number of open rounds and the value in pots, include rounds played by test bots and simulated items. They are not evidence of real activity or real value. The "connected" number shown next to the chat is a live count of open browser connections to the Service, not a count of distinct players;
- test records, including rounds, test items and test progress, may be reset at any time, and a signed-in session can end when the service restarts;
- nothing won, lost or recorded in test mode gives anyone a right to any real item, value or reward, now or after real trading is enabled; and
- if you sign in with Steam, the Service may read your public Rust inventory and show it to you, but it cannot move any of your items, and a Steam-signed-in account cannot create or join rounds in test mode.
1.6 The clauses of these Terms that deal with deposits, custody, payouts and trade offers apply only once real trading is enabled. Before that happens we will announce it on the Service and ask you to accept the version of these Terms that will then apply, as described in clause 3.
1.7 The address egirl.sx/rust50, which was used for an earlier preview, redirects to rust50.com and does not offer a separate service. No other product is offered under the RUST50/50 brand, and we do not redirect players to any other operator.
2. Definitions and interpretation
2.1 In these Terms the following words have the meanings given below.
- Account: the RUST50/50 account created when you first sign in with Steam, identified by your SteamID64.
- Bot account: a Steam account owned or controlled by us that sends and receives trade offers for rounds. Bot accounts hold items; they never play.
- Client seed: a text value chosen by the creator of a round (up to 64 characters; spaces at the start and end are removed) or, if the creator does not choose one, 8 random bytes written as 16 hexadecimal characters. It is used in the fairness calculation.
- Commitment (or server seed hash): the SHA-256 hash of the server seed, published when a round is created.
- Creator: the player who creates a round, picks a side and stakes the first items.
- Creator's chance: the creator's value divided by the pot value, as set out in clause 8.7.
- Deposit: the transfer of your selected items to a bot account by a Steam trade offer, for a specific round.
- House fee: the items we keep from the pot when a round settles, calculated under clause 11.
- Item: a tradable Rust cosmetic item held in a Steam Community inventory for Rust (Steam app 252490, inventory context 2).
- Item value: the US dollar value we assign to an item under clause 10.
- Joiner: the player who joins an open round by staking items on the other side.
- Licence: the online gaming licence described in clause 4.
- Nonce: the number of the round used in the fairness calculation, as described in clause 9.
- Payout: the trade offer that sends the winner the pot items left after the house fee.
- Pot and pot value: all items staked by both players in a round, and the total of their item values.
- Refund: the return of items to the player who staked them, by trade offer, when a round is cancelled or void.
- Restricted territory: a country or region listed in Annex A.
- Round: one coinflip between a creator and a joiner. Round number: the random ten-digit public number of a round.
- Round checker: the public tool on the Service that looks up a round by its round number and recomputes its result.
- Server seed: 32 random bytes we generate for each round and keep secret until the round has finished.
- Settlement: the step at the end of a round in which the house fee is selected, the round is recorded as finished and the payout is sent.
- Stake: the items a player commits to a round, and their total item value.
- Steam and Valve: the Steam platform and its operator, Valve Corporation.
- Test bot: a simulated opponent or draw entrant that exists only in test mode and is labelled "TEST BOT". A test bot is not a player, not a person and not a bot account.
- Test mode: the current operation of the Service with simulated items, described in clause 1.5.
- Trade offer: a Steam trade offer between your Steam account and one of our bot accounts.
- Trade URL: the Steam trade offer link of the Steam account you used to sign in.
- Void round: a round that is treated as if no result had occurred, under clause 13.
- You or player: the person who uses the Service.
2.2 Headings are for convenience only. "Including" means "including but not limited to". A reference to a clause is to a clause of these Terms. A reference to a law includes that law as amended or replaced.
2.3 Times and deadlines are measured by our server clock. US dollar ("USD") amounts are calculated to the nearest cent. Percentages shown on the Service may be rounded for display, but the calculations use the full values.
3. Acceptance, changes and the archive of versions
3.1 You must actively accept these Terms before you can take part in any round, by ticking the acceptance box shown to you and confirming. Visiting the website does not, by itself, mean that you have accepted these Terms, and you cannot play until you have accepted them.
3.2 We keep a secure record of the version of these Terms that you accepted or refused, and of the date and time.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the site signs players in with Steam only and has no Terms acceptance step. A versioned acceptance checkbox, a per-SteamID64 acceptance and refusal log, a sign-in notice for changed Terms and a re-acceptance flow must be built (CGA T&C Policy Guideline, sections 1, 2 and 16).3.3 We may change these Terms for a valid reason, including: a change in law, in our licence conditions or in an instruction from a regulator; a change to the Service, such as a new feature, or a change in how Steam works; security or fraud prevention; or to correct an error or make the Terms clearer.
3.4 If a change is material, meaning that it could affect your rights or obligations, we will show you a notice when you next sign in. The notice will identify the clauses that change, give the date on which the change takes effect, link to the new version and explain what happens if you do not accept it. We will give you reasonable notice before a material change takes effect, unless the law, a regulator or an urgent security reason requires the change to apply sooner.
Drafting note: the operator should decide whether to commit to a fixed minimum notice period for material changes. No period is stated in the research reviewed for this draft, so none is promised here.3.5 You must accept a material change actively before you play again. If you do not accept it:
- you will not be able to create or join new rounds;
- any round that is already in progress will be completed under the version you accepted earlier;
- we will return any items we hold for you under clause 12; and
- you may close your Account under clause 16.7.
3.6 A change never applies to a round that settled before the change took effect, unless the change does not disadvantage you or it corrects a clear error.
3.7 A change that does not affect your rights or obligations, such as a correction of spelling or an update of contact details, takes effect when it is published. We still record it as a new version.
3.8 We keep an archive of every version of these Terms. You can ask for a copy of any earlier version, free of charge, at support@rust50.com. Annex B lists the versions.
3.9 We review these Terms periodically, and whenever the Service, the law or our licence conditions change.
4. The operator and its licence
4.1 The Service is operated by Rust50 Entertainment Ltd, a company incorporated in Curaçao and registered with the Curaçao Chamber of Commerce under number HE 452139, with its registered address at 28 Omonias Avenue, 1010 Nicosia, Cyprus.
4.2 Rust50 Entertainment Ltd holds licence number HE 452139, issued on 5 November 2026 by the Curaçao Gaming Authority ("CGA") under the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (Landsverordening op de kansspelen, P.B. 2024 no. 157) (the "LOK"). The type of licence (provisional or indefinite) and its duration are shown on the Operator and Licence page. The CGA is the licensing authority and supervisor of our operations.
4.3 The licence covers only the domains that the CGA has approved for us. You can check the licence through the CGA digital seal shown in the footer of the Service, or at https://www.nba.gov.cy. If a seal does not lead to a certificate on the CGA's own website that names rust50.com, do not rely on it, and tell us.
Drafting note: the operator does not hold a CGA licence on the date of this draft. Clauses 4.1 to 4.3, the footer licence statement and any seal must not be published until a current CGA B2C licence covering rust50.com has been granted. Until then they must be removed, not left with placeholders. Counsel must also obtain the CGA's written view on whether it will license stakes made in Steam items (licence conditions art. 9 refer only to fiat currency and exchange-traded virtual currency), and the current seal and validation mechanism after the CGA portal change of October 2026.4.4 We are not a bank, payment institution or other financial institution. We do not hold money for you, we pay no interest on anything, and we never give or arrange credit for play.
4.5 Our contact details are in clause 29.
4.6 The only game offered under the RUST50/50 brand is the coinflip described in clause 8. Every game we offer under the brand is offered under the licence described in clause 4.2, and no product under the brand is offered by, or redirects you to, an operator that the CGA does not regulate (see also clause 1.7). A new game or feature, such as a prize draw, will be offered only after any consent our licence requires, and under published rules.
5. Who may play
5.1 You may use the Service to play only if all of the following are true:
- you are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority or the minimum legal gambling age in the place where you live, if that is higher;
- you have full legal capacity to enter into this agreement;
- you do not live in, and are not located in, a restricted territory;
- you play for yourself only and not on behalf of, or with items belonging to, anyone else;
- you use your own Steam account;
- you are not excluded from the Service under clause 5.5;
- you are not a person to whom clause 5.6 applies;
- you are not named on a sanctions list referred to in clause 7.9; and
- taking part in gambling with items is lawful for you where you are.
5.2 Age. Steam accounts can be created from age 13, so signing in with Steam does not prove your age. Before you play we will ask for your date of birth and for your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and we may verify your age with an identity document at any time. If we find that a minor has used the Service, we will close the Account, return the items the minor deposited that we still hold (except items we must freeze by law), refuse any winnings, and explain why. We keep a record of every age check and its outcome.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - there is no date-of-birth step, no "I am 18 or older" confirmation and no identity check. These, and a procedure for handling a minor's account, must be built before any real round (CGA Responsible Gaming Policy, "Age Verification").5.3 Restricted territories. You must not use the Service to play from, or while living in, a restricted territory listed in Annex A. You must not use a VPN, proxy, anonymising service or any other means to hide your location or to appear to be somewhere else. We may use your IP address, the address you give us for verification and other information to decide where you are. If you move to a restricted territory, you must stop playing. If we find that you have played from a restricted territory, clause 5.7 applies.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - there is no geoblocking. Blocking by IP country (for example from Cloudflare country codes) and checking the verified address against Annex A are needed.5.4 Curaçao residents. Until we confirm otherwise in an updated version of these Terms, residents of Curaçao may not play (see Annex A).
5.5 Exclusion and vulnerable persons. You must not play if:
- you have self-excluded from the Service and the self-exclusion period has not ended, or you are on a cooling-off period;
- we have excluded you from the Service;
- you are subject to a gambling ban, whether you asked for it or it was imposed on you;
- you are unable to control your gambling; or
- you are bankrupt or otherwise do not have control of your assets.
5.6 Staff and key persons. Our directors, officers, employees, key persons, contractors with access to our game, trade or moderation systems, and the members of their households, may not play real rounds. Because we hold the secret server seed of every unfinished round, anyone who could see it would know results in advance, and nobody may play when they already know the outcome. Our bot accounts never play. Test bots exist only in test mode and never take part in real rounds or real draws.
5.7 If you are not eligible. If we find that you were not eligible, we may refuse to accept stakes from you, cancel your open rounds, suspend or close your Account and report the matter where the law requires it. We will return your own items that we still hold, subject to clause 5.2 and to any freeze the law requires. A round already settled with another player is not reopened against that other player unless that player took part in the breach.
5.8 Each time you create or join a round you confirm again that you meet every condition in clause 5.1.
6. Your account
6.1 Sign in with Steam. You create and access your Account by signing in through Steam's own sign-in page ("Sign in with Steam", which uses OpenID). You enter your password only on Steam. We never see or store your Steam password or your Steam Guard codes.
6.2 What we receive. When you sign in, Steam confirms your SteamID64 to us, and we then obtain your public Steam display name and the address of your avatar image from Steam. You add your Steam trade URL yourself. The Privacy Policy lists everything else we store, including round and trade records.
6.3 One account per person. You may have only one Account, linked to one Steam account. You must not create, use or control more than one Account, including through other Steam accounts you own or that belong to friends or family. We may link Accounts that we reasonably believe belong to the same person, and close the extra ones under clause 16.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - there is no duplicate-account detection. One verified person must be linked to one Steam account (CGA AML Regulations, section III.2.2), with checks that do not rely only on the SteamID64.6.4 Personal use. You must open your Account yourself. Nobody may open an Account for you or on your behalf. Your Account is personal. You must not sell, transfer, lend, rent or share it, or buy, receive or use anyone else's Account.
6.5 Accurate information. Everything you give us, including your date of birth, name, address and trade URL, must be true, complete and kept up to date.
6.6 Trade URL. Your trade URL must belong to the Steam account you used to sign in. The Service checks this and refuses a trade URL that belongs to another account. If you create a new trade URL in Steam, you must update it on the Service, because trade offers sent to the old link will fail.
6.7 Inventory visibility. To stake items, your Rust inventory on Steam must be visible to the public, so that the Service can read which items you hold. The Service only reads your inventory. It cannot move items without a trade offer that you confirm in Steam.
6.8 Security. You are responsible for keeping your Steam account and your devices secure. In particular you must:
- use the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator;
- never share your Steam password, Steam Guard codes, Steam Web API key or recovery codes with anyone, including anyone who claims to work for us;
- sign out after using a shared device (signed-in sessions on the Service expire after 24 hours, and can end earlier if the service restarts); and
- sign in only through the Sign in with Steam button on rust50.com, never through a link sent to you in chat or in a private message.
6.9 We will never ask for your Steam password or Steam Guard codes, and we will never ask you to send items other than through a trade offer created by the Service for a round you started or joined.
6.10 Unauthorised access. If you think someone else has accessed your Steam account or your Account, secure your Steam account with Steam Support at once and tell us at support@rust50.com. When we receive your notice we will suspend your Account to protect your items. Until you tell us, actions taken through a valid Steam sign-in to your account are treated as yours, unless the unauthorised access happened because we failed to take reasonable security measures. We are not responsible for losses caused by a compromise of your Steam account, devices or email that was outside our control.
6.11 Public profile. Your Steam display name and avatar are shown publicly in the lobby, in recent results, in the Round checker and in chat. We may hide a display name or avatar that breaks clause 15.
7. Identity verification, anti-money laundering and sanctions
7.1 We must comply with the laws of Curaçao on preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of proliferation, including the National Ordinance on Identification of Clients when Rendering Services (NOIS), the National Ordinance on the Reporting of Unusual Transactions (NORUT) and the CGA Regulations for the Combating of Money Laundering, the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation (the "CGA AML Regulations"), as well as sanctions law. The AML and KYC Policy explains these checks in more detail and, for identification, screening, monitoring, reporting and record keeping, prevails over these Terms (clause 1.2). You agree to cooperate with them.
7.2 When you open your Account. Before your first real round we will ask for your full name, permanent residential address and date of birth, and we will screen you against sanctions lists and lists of politically exposed persons ("PEPs").
7.3 Full verification. We must complete full customer due diligence ("CDD") no later than when the total value of your deposits plus your withdrawals since you opened your Account reaches XCG 4,000 (about EUR 2,000, or about USD 2,235 at the fixed rate of XCG 1.79 to USD 1). We calculate this every day, over the whole life of the Account. We may also ask for full verification earlier, for example if we suspect money laundering, if we doubt information you gave us, or if our risk assessment requires it. Full verification usually means:
- a valid, unexpired government photo identity document (passport, national identity card or driving licence);
- proof of address issued within the last six months; and
- a live photo or video check carried out through our identity verification provider, an EU-approved identity verification provider.
7.4 How items count. For these thresholds we count the items you send us for a round as a deposit, and the items we send you as a payout or refund as a withdrawal, each at the item value recorded for the round under clause 10. We convert US dollars to Caribbean guilders (XCG) at the official rate. Because each round involves both a deposit and a payout, you may reach the threshold quickly. A single round at the highest stake can exceed it.
Drafting note: counsel must obtain written CGA or FIU guidance on how deposits and payouts of Steam items, valued in USD from the Steam Community Market, count towards the XCG 4,000 CDD threshold and the XCG 5,000 reporting indicator.7.5 While verification is pending. If a deposit takes you to the threshold, you will not be able to make further deposits or receive payouts until verification is complete, but a round already in progress will be completed. If a payout takes you to the threshold, your Account is frozen and the payout items are held for you until verification is complete. If you do not provide what we ask for within 30 days, we will end our relationship with you and return your items to the Steam account they came from, unless the law requires us to hold them or to report the matter.
7.6 Enhanced checks. For higher-risk cases, including PEPs, their family members and close associates, we may ask where your items and your wealth come from, ask for further documents, and need approval from senior management before you can play.
7.7 Monitoring and reporting. We monitor all rounds, deposits, payouts and refunds. We report unusual transactions to the Financial Intelligence Unit of Curaçao (the "FIU") as the law requires, and the law may prevent us from telling you that we have done so.
7.8 Where items come from. You must not stake items that are stolen, obtained by fraud or scam, or taken from a compromised Steam account. We may ask you to show how you obtained an item. If Valve or Facepunch removes or locks an item because of how it was obtained, clause 13 applies.
7.9 Sanctions. We screen players against the consolidated sanctions lists of the United Nations Security Council and the European Union, the Dutch national terrorism list and any applicable Curaçao list, at onboarding and before payouts. If you are designated, we must freeze the items we hold for you and report this to the authorities.
7.10 When you close your Account we will not ask for more information than we asked for when you opened it, unless the law on money laundering strictly requires it.
7.11 Record keeping. We keep transaction records (rounds, trade offers and house fees) for at least five years after each transaction, and identification and customer due diligence records for at least five years after our business relationship with you ends. If the FIU or another competent authority orders it, we keep them for up to ten years. The Privacy Policy and the AML and KYC Policy give the details, and clause 20.4 summarises the other retention periods.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - none of clauses 7.2 to 7.9 is built. Steam OpenID provides none of the required identification data. A an EU-approved identity verification provider integration that meets the CGA remote identification provisions, sanctions and PEP screening, a daily threshold calculation, deposit and payout blocks, freezes, and a way to hold payout items while CDD is pending are all required.8. The coinflip game
8.1 What the game is. RUST50/50 is a peer-to-peer coinflip between two players. We do not play against you. We provide the game, hold the staked items during the round, run the provably fair calculation, send the payout and keep the house fee. The coin has two sides, Black and White.
8.2 Key figures.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Sides | Black or White. The creator picks one; the joiner gets the other. |
| Items per side | 1 to 25 |
| Creator's stake | USD 1.00 to USD 5,000.00 in item value |
| Joiner's stake | Within 6% above or below the creator's stake, limits included (so a joiner's stake can range from about USD 0.94 to about USD 5,300.00) |
| Chance of winning | Each player's share of the pot value (equal stakes give exactly 50/50) |
| Time to accept a deposit or join trade offer | 90 seconds |
| Countdown before the flip | 4 seconds |
| Coin animation | Several seconds: a spin followed by a slowing landing. It is cosmetic, and the result is fixed before it starts |
| House fee | Whole pot items worth as close as possible to, but not more than, 8% of the pot value, with the 8% cap calculated to the nearest cent |
| Time to accept a payout | 3 days |
8.3 Before you stake. To create or join a round you must be signed in, have accepted these Terms, be eligible under clause 5, have completed any verification we require, and have saved a valid trade URL. Each item you select must be in your Steam inventory, tradable on Steam, have an item value above zero, and not already be committed to another round.
8.4 Creating a round.
- Choose Black or White, select 1 to 25 items with a total value between USD 1.00 and USD 5,000.00, and, if you wish, enter your own client seed of up to 64 characters. If you leave it empty, a random client seed is generated.
- Check the items and the values shown, then confirm.
- When you confirm, we create the round, give it a random ten-digit round number and generate its server seed. From that moment the commitment, the client seed and the nonce can be seen in the round view and in the Round checker.
- A bot account then sends you a trade offer that requests exactly the items you selected. You must accept it and confirm it in Steam within 90 seconds.
- While the offer is pending, the round shows "Preparing items" and has no cancel button. The round appears in the lobby as open only after Steam reports the trade as complete. If you decline the offer in Steam, or it is not completed within 90 seconds, the round is removed and nothing is staked or taken from you.
8.5 Joining a round.
- Choose an open round created by another player. You play the opposite side to the creator. You cannot join your own round.
- Select 1 to 25 items whose total value is within 6% of the creator's stake, limits included. For example, if the creator staked USD 100.00, your stake must be between USD 94.00 and USD 106.00. Because of this range, a joiner's stake can be slightly below USD 1.00 or above USD 5,000.00: roughly USD 0.94 to USD 5,300.00 is possible.
- Before you confirm, the Service shows your exact chance of winning.
- Only one player can join a round at a time. While a join is in progress, the round is not available to anyone else.
- A bot account sends you a trade offer that requests exactly the items you selected. You must accept it and confirm it in Steam within 90 seconds. If you decline it, or it is not completed in time, your join is withdrawn and the round becomes open again for other players.
8.6 Values are locked. The item values used for a round are the values recorded when each player confirmed their stake. They are used for the stake limits, the chances, the house fee and the payout value of that round, even if prices change later.
8.7 Chance of winning. The creator's chance is the creator's value divided by the pot value: creator's chance = creator's value ÷ (creator's value + joiner's value). The joiner's chance is 1 minus the creator's chance. With equal stakes each player has exactly a 50% chance. For example:
| Creator's stake | Joiner's stake | Pot | Creator's chance | Joiner's chance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USD 100.00 | USD 100.00 | USD 200.00 | 50.00% | 50.00% |
| USD 100.00 | USD 94.00 | USD 194.00 | 51.55% | 48.45% |
| USD 100.00 | USD 106.00 | USD 206.00 | 48.54% | 51.46% |
8.8 Return to player. Before the house fee, the expected value of a round for each player is equal to their stake, because each player's chance equals their share of the pot. The house fee under clause 11 is the only amount that reduces what the players receive. In every round the winner receives the pot value minus the house fee. Because the house fee is never more than the fee cap (8% of the pot value, with the 8% cap calculated to the nearest cent; clause 11.1), the return to players is about 92% of the pot value or more, and is 100% when no fee item fits under the fee cap. Each player's expected return is their chance multiplied by the payout value.
8.9 Timing of the result. When Steam reports the joiner's trade as complete within the 90-second window, the result of the round is fixed by the provably fair calculation in clause 9. A 4-second countdown follows, then the coin animation. The animation (a spin followed by a slowing landing) lasts several seconds and is cosmetic: the result is fixed before it starts. The round settles on our server at the end of the reveal period, which may be before the landing animation has finished on your screen. At settlement we select the house fee items, record the round as finished and send the payout.
8.10 The animation is only a display. The coin animation does not decide or influence the result. Its length, the way it lands, your reduced-motion and sound settings, and the speed or quality of your connection change nothing. If what you see on screen ever differs from the recorded result, the recorded result applies, and you can check it in the Round checker.
8.11 Cancelling. While the creator's deposit trade offer is pending (the round shows "Preparing items"), there is no cancel button. To cancel at that stage, decline the trade offer in Steam or let it expire after 90 seconds; the round is then removed and nothing is staked (clause 8.4(e)). Once the round is open, it stays open for other players for 30 minutes. During that time the button shows how long is left and the round cannot be cancelled. After 30 minutes with no joiner, the creator can cancel it with the "Cancel round" button and confirm, and we return exactly the items the creator staked by a refund trade offer. A round cannot be cancelled while another player is joining it. If that join is withdrawn (clause 8.5(e)), the round is open again and the creator may cancel it. A joiner cannot cancel, but can decline the trade offer in Steam before accepting it, or let it expire. Once the joiner's trade is complete, neither player can cancel.
8.12 Results are final. The result of a round is final once it is fixed under clause 8.9, except as provided in clause 13 (errors and void rounds) and clause 14 (prohibited conduct).
8.13 Nobody can change a result. No administrator, staff member, promotion, referral, Steam display-name tag or test control can change a result, the chances, the seeds or a payout. Our owner console can mute or ban players with a recorded reason and can view rounds and the audit log; it shows rounds read-only and cannot change results, chances, seeds, balances or payouts.
8.14 Public rounds. Rounds are public. The lobby shows each player's display name, avatar, side, items, item values and chance. Results and payout values appear in recent results, and anyone can look up a round in the Round checker.
8.15 Your history. The "My games" view lists your most recent rounds (currently up to 50), including rounds that are still running. The public "History" view shows completed rounds from the last 10 minutes. Any round can be looked up by its round number in the Round checker.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - a complete, timestamped history of every round, trade offer, fee and payout since the Account was opened must be available to the player (CGA Responsible Gaming Policy, "Self-Assessment" and history requirements).9. How results are determined (provably fair)
9.1 Each round uses three values:
- the server seed: 32 random bytes we generate when the round is created. We keep it secret until the round has finished, and we publish its SHA-256 hash (the commitment) when the round is created;
- the client seed: chosen by the creator, or 8 random bytes written in hexadecimal if the creator does not choose one, published when the round is created; and
- the nonce: for new rounds, the random ten-digit public round number. Older rounds keep the nonce originally stored for them, which is never rewritten.
9.2 The result is calculated as follows:
hmac = HMAC-SHA256(key = server seed, message = "<client seed>:<nonce>") roll = (integer value of the first 8 hexadecimal digits of hmac) ÷ 0xffffffff creator's chance = creator's value ÷ (creator's value + joiner's value) The creator wins if roll < creator's chance. Otherwise the joiner wins.
9.3 Because the commitment is published before anyone joins, we cannot change the server seed after publishing it without the hash no longer matching. The joiner's stake value affects the chance, not the roll.
9.4 Checking a round. The Round checker looks up a round by its ten-digit round number. Before the result, it shows the commitment, the client seed and the nonce. After the result, it shows the revealed server seed, checks it against the commitment, recomputes the roll and the winner, and shows whether they match the recorded result. You may also recompute the result independently using any standard HMAC-SHA256 tool. The Fairness and Round Verification page gives a step-by-step example.
9.5 Records are not rewritten. Fairness records (seeds, commitments, nonces, rolls and results) are never rewritten. If a correction is ever needed under clause 13, it is recorded separately and the original record is kept.
9.6 Secret seeds. The server seed of an unfinished round is not shown in any public view or in our owner console. Clause 5.6 prevents anyone who could access it from playing.
9.7 Certification. The provably fair scheme lets you check each result. It is not, by itself, a certification of the game by an independent testing laboratory.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the game, its random number generation and the provably fair scheme must be certified by a CGA-approved testing laboratory (licence conditions art. 10). Until a certificate exists, the Service must not claim a certified RNG. Once certified, name the laboratory and the certificate here and on the Fairness page. Internal access to stored server seeds must also be restricted and documented.10. Item values
10.1 Each item has a value in US dollars taken from our pricing source, the Steam Community Market.
10.2 The value of each item you select and the total of your stake are shown before you confirm. When you join a round, your resulting chance is also shown before you confirm.
10.3 Values can change between rounds as the pricing source updates. Within a round, the values recorded when each stake was confirmed apply (clause 8.6).
10.4 An item that has no value from the pricing source, or a value of zero, cannot be staked. An item that Steam marks as not tradable cannot be staked. We may also refuse particular items, for example where we cannot price them reliably.
10.5 Item values are reference values used to run the game: to compare stakes, apply limits, calculate chances, select the house fee, show payout values and apply legal thresholds. They are not an offer by us to buy or sell any item, and they do not guarantee what you could obtain for an item on the Steam Community Market or anywhere else. Market prices move, markets charge their own fees, and an item may be worth less, or be harder to sell, than its item value suggests.
10.6 We do not guarantee that any item has any cash value. We never exchange items for money, cryptocurrency or anything else.
10.7 In test mode the values are owner reference prices, not live market quotes.
10.8 If a value was clearly wrong because of a technical or data error, clause 13 applies.
11. The house fee
11.1 How the fee is calculated. When a round settles:
- we calculate 8% of the pot value, rounded to the nearest cent (the "fee cap");
- from all items in the pot, whichever player staked them, we select the set of whole items whose total value is as close as possible to the fee cap without going over it. An item worth more than the fee cap is never selected. If more than one set reaches the same total, the system picks one of them by a fixed rule;
- the selected items are the house fee and are kept by us; and
- the winner receives all the other items in the pot.
11.2 Because the fee is taken in whole items, it can be lower than 8% of the pot value, and it is zero when no item in the pot is worth the fee cap or less. It is never more than the fee cap. Because the fee cap is rounded to the nearest cent, the fee can be higher than exactly 8% of the pot value by at most half a US cent, and never by more.
Drafting note: the engine rounds the fee cap to the nearest cent (src/games/rake.js). If the operator wants the statement "never more than 8%" to be literally true, the cap should be rounded down instead, and the last sentence of clause 11.2 (and the words "with the 8% cap calculated to the nearest cent" in the key points and clauses 8.2 and 8.8, and "rounded to the nearest cent" in clause 11.1) should then be updated, together with the matching wording in the other documents.11.3 The fee is calculated on the pot value, not on the winner's profit, and it is the same whichever player wins.
11.4 The house fee items may include items that either player staked, including items the winner staked.
11.5 The round result shows the value of the house fee, the items kept and the payout value.
11.6 Examples.
| Example 1 | Example 2 | Example 3 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator's items | 60.00 + 25.00 + 15.00 = USD 100.00 | 10.00 = USD 10.00 | 20.00 + 3.00 + 2.00 = USD 25.00 |
| Joiner's items | 50.00 + 30.00 + 9.00 + 5.00 = USD 94.00 | 10.00 = USD 10.00 | 21.00 + 2.50 + 1.50 = USD 25.00 |
| Pot value | USD 194.00 | USD 20.00 | USD 50.00 |
| Fee cap (8%) | USD 15.52 | USD 1.60 | USD 4.00 |
| Items that fit under the cap | 15.00, 9.00, 5.00 | none | 3.00, 2.50, 2.00, 1.50 |
| House fee | USD 15.00 (the 15.00 item; 9.00 + 5.00 = 14.00 is further from the cap) | USD 0.00 | USD 4.00 (2.50 + 1.50) |
| Fee as a share of the pot | 7.73% | 0% | 8.00% |
| Winner receives | USD 179.00 in items | USD 20.00 in items | USD 46.00 in items |
11.7 In Example 1, if the creator wins, they receive items worth USD 179.00 after staking USD 100.00. If the joiner wins, they receive the same USD 179.00 after staking USD 94.00. The fee is the same in both cases because it depends only on the pot.
11.8 No other charges. The house fee is the only charge for playing. We charge nothing for signing in, deposits, payouts, resent trade offers, refunds, verification, inactivity or closing your Account. Any charge your internet or mobile provider makes is your own cost.
11.9 Changes to the fee. The system cannot be set to a fee percentage above 8%. Any change to the fee will be shown before you confirm a stake, will apply only to rounds created after the change, and will be notified under clause 3.
11.10 Fee shown before you stake. The fee rule in this clause is shown on the create and join screens before you confirm a stake, and the actual fee and the items kept are shown in the result of every round.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - (1) the create and join screens do not yet show the fee rule before confirmation (only the result shows the fee); licence conditions art. 12(i) require the total costs of participating to be shown; (2) the fee percentage is read from server configuration when a round settles and is not stored with the round, so a configuration change followed by a restart would apply to rounds already in progress; it must be stored per round to make clause 11.9 true; (3) the payout trade offer message currently says "after 8% tax", which is wrong whenever the fee is lower; it must show the actual fee. Drafting note: a planned alternative model (winnings retained on the site and a 5% or 8% fee charged only at final cashout) is not active. This clause describes the only model that operates. If that alternative mode is ever launched, this clause, clauses 12 and 17 and the Promotions terms must be rewritten, and the chosen fee must be shown at confirmation before the mode is enabled.12. Deposits, custody, payouts and trade offers
12.1 Items only. The Service works with Steam items only. There are no cash, card, bank transfer or cryptocurrency deposits or withdrawals, no account balance, and no conversion of items into money. In these Terms a "deposit" is the transfer of your items to a bot account for a specific round, and a "withdrawal" is a payout or refund of items to you.
12.2 Deposit method. The only deposit method is a Steam trade offer sent to you by one of our bot accounts, which you accept and confirm in Steam with Steam Guard. Before you accept, check that:
- the offer comes from one of our official bot accounts listed on the Get started and FAQ page;
- the offer asks for exactly the items you selected and gives you nothing in return; and
- the offer message names the round.
If anything does not match, decline the offer and contact us.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - publish the SteamID64 and profile link of every official bot account on the Get started page, and update the trade offer messages, which currently carry an older brand name and an internal round counter instead of the public round number, so that they name RUST50/50 and the ten-digit round number.12.3 When a deposit counts. Items are credited to a round only when Steam reports the trade as complete. A trade that is accepted but placed on hold by Steam, or that Steam has not completed, is not a completed deposit. We never open or join a round with items we have not received.
12.4 Trade holds and restrictions. Steam may hold or restrict trades, for example for up to 15 days if you do not use the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, or after a change to your account security. These rules are Steam's and may change. Because a deposit must be completed within 90 seconds, you cannot play while your account is subject to a trade hold or trade restriction, and we may check your trade-hold status and refuse a stake. Do not cancel a trade that Steam has put on hold without contacting us first, because Steam may then restrict your trading.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the bot integration must check the player's and the bot's trade-hold and restriction status before sending an offer, and must define what happens to items in a trade that Steam completes after a hold.12.5 Declined, cancelled and expired offers. If a deposit offer is declined, cancelled or not completed within 90 seconds, the round is removed and nothing is staked (clause 8.11). If a join offer is declined, cancelled or not completed in time, the join is withdrawn and the round returns to open. If Steam reports a trade as completed after the deadline has passed, the round is placed in review under clause 13.8.
12.6 Custody. While a round is in progress, the items you deposited are held in our bot accounts for you until the round settles or is cancelled. We hold players' items separately from items that belong to us, including house fee items, and we reconcile them. We do not lend, pledge or otherwise use your items, and we do not use them for any purpose other than the round you staked them in.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - dedicated bot accounts owned or controlled by the operator entity for player items, separated from operator-owned and fee items, with regular reconciliation (licence conditions art. 6(5) and 9(2)), and a documented custody ledger connected to the game engine.12.7 Payouts and refunds. After settlement we send the winner a trade offer containing all pot items except the house fee items. When a round is cancelled or void, we send each player a refund trade offer containing their own staked items. Payouts and refunds are sent only to the trade URL of the Steam account that is signed in to the Account and that made the deposit. We never send items to anyone else's Steam account.
12.8 When you receive winnings. We send the payout trade offer as soon as the round settles, normally within seconds of the end of the reveal period. When the items reach your Steam inventory depends on Steam and on when you accept the offer.
12.9 Form of winnings. Winnings are paid in items, which is the same form in which stakes are made. We do not pay winnings in money, and no cash alternative is offered.
12.10 Accepting a payout. You must accept a payout or refund trade offer within 3 days. If you do not accept it in time, or you decline it, or it fails (for example because your trade URL has changed, your inventory is private or full, your account is restricted, or Steam returns an error), the items remain held for you. They do not become ours.
12.11 Resending. You can ask us to resend a failed, expired or declined payout or refund. A resent offer contains the same items. We do not resend while an earlier offer for the same items is still active or after it has been accepted.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the server can resend a failed, expired or declined payout (to the winner) or refund of a cancelled round (to the creator), but the site has no button for it, a banned player cannot use it, and unaccepted payout offers have no expiry. A resend control, the 3 days expiry and a notice to the player must be built.12.12 Completed trades are final. Once Steam completes a payout or refund, the items are in your Steam inventory and we cannot reverse the trade. If we send you items in error, you must tell us and return them (clause 13.9).
12.13 Trade reversals. If Steam allows a completed trade to be reversed, you must not reverse a deposit after it has been used in a round. A reversal of that kind is prohibited conduct under clause 14, and we may recover the value from items we hold for you or by other lawful means. If Steam introduces trade reversals for Rust items, we may hold payouts for a settlement period before sending them; we will announce that period in these Terms before applying it.
Drafting note: Steam Trade Protection (a 7-day trade reversal) currently applies to Counter-Strike 2. Third-party sources report that Rust is not covered, but Valve has said it may add other games. Check before launch and set a settlement period here if Rust is covered.12.14 If Valve acts against a bot account. Items in custody are subject to Steam's control. If Valve restricts, suspends or bans a bot account that holds your items, or restricts trading, we will tell you and do everything we reasonably can to return your items as soon as Steam allows, but we cannot control when that will be.
12.15 Items that were not played. There is no wagering requirement. If nobody joins your round, you can cancel it at any time while it is open, with the "Cancel round" button, and get your items back (clause 8.11). Because deposits followed by withdrawals with little or no play are a recognised money-laundering risk, repeated creating and cancelling of rounds may be reviewed under clauses 7 and 14.
12.16 If items cannot be returned to their source. Items are returned only to the Steam account they came from, or, for a payout, to the winner's own Steam account. If that Steam account can no longer receive trades (for example because Valve has closed or restricted it), we keep holding the items for you under clause 17.5. After verifying your identity under clause 7, and only where the law allows, we may return them to another Steam account that you show belongs to you. We never send them to an account that belongs to someone else.
Drafting note: counsel should confirm the fallback in clause 12.16 against the CGA remittance rule (funds return to their source) and the CGA AML Regulations before launch, and the operator must document the procedure.12.17 Processing times. A deposit or join trade offer must be completed within 90 seconds. A payout or refund trade offer is sent automatically when the round settles or is cancelled, normally within seconds. How long a trade then takes to reach your inventory depends on when you accept and confirm it and on Steam.
13. Errors, malfunctions, void rounds and refunds
13.1 Principles. We handle errors fairly and openly. We apply this clause in the same way whether an error favours you or us. We tell affected players what happened, what we decided and why, and you can complain about any decision under clause 25.
13.2 Problems before the result is fixed. If a malfunction (of our servers, our software, a bot account, Steam or the network) prevents a round from going ahead before Steam has completed the joiner's trade, there is no result and no house fee is taken. Depending on the stage the round has reached, either the join is withdrawn and the round becomes open again with the creator's items still staked, or the round is cancelled and the creator's items are refunded. Items whose trade was never completed stay in your Steam inventory. If the state of a trade is uncertain, clause 13.8 applies.
13.3 Problems after the result is fixed. Once the result is fixed under clause 8.9, a problem that affects only the display, the animation, the countdown or your connection does not change the result. If settlement is interrupted, for example by a server restart, the system completes it when it recovers, using the result already recorded.
13.4 When a round may be void. We may declare a round void only if:
- the value of one or more items in the round was obviously wrong because of a technical or data error (for example a price that was a small fraction or a large multiple of the item's value at the pricing source at that time), and the error materially affected the stakes, the chances, the house fee or the payout;
- a software error produced a result, house fee or payout that does not match these Terms or the provably fair calculation;
- the round involved prohibited conduct under clause 14;
- an item in the round was not owned by the player who staked it, was locked, or was removed or changed by Valve or Facepunch so that it could not be delivered; or
- the law, a court or a regulator requires it.
13.5 We will not void a round because market prices moved after the stakes were confirmed, or because a player is unhappy with the result.
13.6 Effect of a void round. A void round has no winner and no house fee. Each player gets back their own staked items. If a payout has already been completed, we may ask the player who received it to return the items needed to put both players back in their original position, and clause 13.9 applies. We do not use a void round to take anything more than that.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the round engine has no void or correction function. A documented procedure to void a round, return each player's items, record the decision and its reason separately from the original fairness record, and notify both players must be built before clauses 13.4 to 13.10 can be applied.13.7 Time limit. We decide whether to void a round as soon as reasonably possible after we become aware of the problem. We tell both players of the decision and the reason in writing.
Drafting note: the operator should set a fixed maximum period after settlement within which a round can be voided (other than for prohibited conduct), and state it here. No period is set by the research reviewed for this draft.13.8 Rounds in review. If Steam reports a deposit or join trade as completed after its deadline, or if the state of a trade is uncertain, the round is placed in review. A round in review produces no result. We check the trade records and return the items to the player who sent them.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the engine flags late or uncertain trades for review but has no review procedure. A documented review process with a time limit, item return and notice to the player is needed.13.9 Items sent in error. If you receive items that you were not entitled to, for example a duplicate payout or an incorrect fee calculation in your favour, you must tell us and return them by trade offer. Until you do, we may suspend your Account. If a fee was taken in error in our favour, we will return the excess items.
13.10 Round checker differences. If the Round checker or your own calculation does not match a recorded result, tell us with the round number. We will investigate. If the recorded result is wrong because of our error, we will correct it in line with the provably fair calculation under clause 13.6, and record the correction separately (clause 9.5).
13.11 Refunds. Refunds are made in the items that were staked, by trade offer to the Steam account that staked them. No refund is made in money or in other items.
14. Prohibited conduct
14.1 You must not, and must not try to, do any of the following:
- use bots, scripts, macros, automated browsing or any software that plays, creates or joins rounds, sends chat messages or reacts to the Service in your place;
- collude with another player, including arranging rounds between accounts, sharing information to gain an advantage, or deliberately passing value from one person to another through rounds;
- hold or use more than one Account, or use an Account or Steam account that is not yours;
- play on behalf of another person or a group, or stake items that belong to someone else;
- hide your location or identity, including by a VPN or proxy, to get around clause 5 or a restriction we have placed on you;
- exploit a bug, error or weakness in the Service, in the pricing or in the fairness calculation instead of reporting it;
- attempt to predict, discover or influence a server seed, a roll or a result, or play when you already know the outcome;
- use the Service to launder money or items, to finance terrorism, to avoid sanctions, or to move stolen or fraudulently obtained items, including repeatedly creating and cancelling rounds, or depositing and withdrawing with little or no play, to move items;
- reverse or dispute a completed trade, through Steam or anyone else, to recover items you staked and lost under these Terms;
- scam or deceive anyone, including by pretending to be our staff or a bot account, sending fake trade offers, phishing for Steam sign-ins or codes, or offering trades or "item doubling" outside the Service;
- break the chat rules in clause 15;
- interfere with the Service, including attacks on its availability, getting around rate limits or security checks, accessing areas or data that are not meant for you, or copying the Service in bulk;
- reverse engineer the Service, except to verify round results as allowed in clause 21.2;
- use the Service for a commercial purpose, such as advertising or reselling access;
- give false information; or
- sell, give away, pledge or otherwise transfer any claim you have against us.
14.2 How we detect it. To protect players and comply with the law, we monitor and record rounds, trade offers, account activity, web server and reverse-proxy logs and rate-limit counters, which include IP addresses. Chat is not currently retained (clause 15.6).
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the Service keeps these records but has no automated or documented review for collusion, chip-dumping between linked accounts, multi-accounting or create-and-cancel cycles. Monitoring rules, alerts and a documented review procedure are needed (CGA T&C Policy Guideline 4.4; CGA AML Regulations, risk factors for peer-to-peer play).14.3 Consequences. If we reasonably believe you have broken clause 14.1, we may do one or more of the following, in proportion to the breach:
- warn you;
- mute you in chat or ban your Account;
- cancel your open rounds and return your staked items;
- hold items we owe you while we investigate, for no longer than reasonably necessary, telling you why unless the law prevents it;
- void the rounds affected under clause 13;
- refuse winnings that were obtained through the breach;
- recover losses the breach caused us or other players; and
- report the matter to the CGA, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the police or other authorities, and, where the breach concerns Steam accounts or items, to Valve.
14.4 We will not keep items you deposited that you did not win through a breach, except where the law requires us to freeze or surrender them.
14.5 Reporting bugs. If you find a bug, report it to support@rust50.com and do not use it. We will not penalise anyone who reports a bug in good faith and has not used it to gain an advantage.
15. Chat and community rules
15.1 The chat is public. Anyone who visits the Service can read it, and your Steam display name is shown next to your messages. Chat is not customer support: contact us as described in clause 29.
15.2 Technical limits. A message must be 1 to 280 characters long. You can send at most three messages in any ten seconds. Messages containing a web address that begins with "http://", "https://" or "www." are refused, other links are forbidden by clause 15.3, and control characters are replaced with spaces.
15.3 Rules. In chat you must be respectful. You must not post:
- harassment, threats, hate speech or discrimination;
- sexual, violent or otherwise offensive content;
- spam, advertising, promotion of other sites, begging for items, or repeated posting of referral codes;
- links, or text designed to get around the ban on links;
- personal information about yourself or anyone else;
- trade offers, scams, or messages that pretend to come from our staff;
- messages that encourage anyone to gamble more, to chase losses or to treat gambling as a way to make money, or content that appeals to minors; or
- anything unlawful.
15.4 Moderation. We may mute you for 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days, or ban your Account, for breaking these rules. Each action is recorded with its reason in our audit log. A mute stops you sending chat messages only. A ban is described in clause 16.1.
15.5 Code of conduct. No separate code of ethics or conduct applies to players. These rules are the code of conduct for chat.
15.6 Retention. Only the latest 50 chat messages are kept, in the server's memory. They are not stored in a database and disappear when the service restarts. We cannot retrieve older messages, so if you want to report a message, send us a screenshot.
Drafting note: licence conditions art. 11(3)(g) require the Terms to state the retention period of all communications relating to participation in games, and the CGA T&C Policy Guideline (4.4) expects chat to be logged and recorded to detect collusion. If persistent chat logging is introduced before launch, rewrite clauses 14.2 and 15.6 and the Privacy Policy with the new retention period.16. Moderation, suspension and closure
16.1 What a ban does. A banned Account cannot use any signed-in function of the Service: it cannot create, join or cancel rounds, save a trade URL, load its inventory, request a resent trade offer, send chat messages or use the Profile page. The Service shows that the Account is not available. Every mute and ban is recorded with its reason in our audit log. Items held for a banned Account are dealt with under clause 16.4.
16.2 Reasons for suspension or closure. We may suspend or close your Account if:
- you break these Terms;
- we reasonably suspect fraud, collusion, money laundering or other unlawful activity;
- you do not complete, or fail, the verification we ask for under clause 7;
- you are not, or are no longer, eligible under clause 5;
- the law, a court or a regulator requires it;
- Valve restricts or bans your Steam account, or your Steam account cannot trade;
- your Account appears to have been compromised;
- you abuse or threaten our staff;
- your Account is inactive under clause 17; or
- we stop offering the Service.
16.3 How we tell you. We tell you of a suspension or closure and its reason by a notice on the Service and, if you have given us one, by email, unless the law prevents us from giving the reason. Where it is appropriate and lawful, we give you a chance to explain before we close your Account.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - a banned player currently sees only a generic "not available" message. A notice that gives the reason recorded in the audit log (where the law allows) and explains how to complain must be built.16.4 What happens to your items. When your Account is suspended or closed:
- your rounds that have not been joined are cancelled and your items are refunded;
- a round already in progress is completed normally, unless the suspension concerns that round;
- items we hold for you, such as unaccepted payouts or refunds, are returned to your Steam account by trade offer; and
- clause 14.3 applies to items obtained through a breach, and clause 7 applies to items we must freeze by law.
16.5 Challenging a decision. You can challenge a suspension, closure or decision about your items through the Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure (clause 25).
16.6 Self-exclusion and cooling-off. These are handled under clause 19 and the Responsible Gambling Policy, not as an ordinary closure.
16.7 Closing your Account yourself. You can close your Account at any time by writing to support@rust50.com. We will ask you to confirm the request by signing in with Steam, so that we know it comes from you. We will:
- confirm receipt within within 24 hours;
- cancel your open rounds and refund your items;
- return any items we hold for you; and
- close the Account and confirm the closure to you.
If you want to close your Account because of concerns about your gambling, tell us, and we will offer you self-exclusion, which gives stronger protection.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - there is no account closure function. A self-service or staff-operated closure process with confirmation and timelines is needed (CGA T&C Policy Guideline, section 5).16.8 After closure. We keep the records the law requires (clause 20). You may ask to reopen an Account that you closed yourself, unless it was closed for self-exclusion that has not ended, or because of a breach.
16.9 If we stop the Service. If we decide, or are required, to stop offering the Service, we will give you as much notice as we can, stop accepting new rounds, complete or cancel rounds in progress, and return all items we hold for players.
17. Inactive accounts
17.1 The Service has no cash or item balance. Items are normally sent back to Steam as soon as a round ends. Inactivity therefore matters only for items we still hold for you (for example payouts you did not accept) and for your Account records.
17.2 Your Account becomes inactive if you do not sign in for 12 months.
17.3 When your Account becomes inactive we may ask you to accept the current Terms again, to confirm your eligibility and to complete any verification that is due before you play again. After reasonable attempts to contact you, we may close an inactive Account.
17.4 We never charge an inactivity or dormancy fee, and we never deduct items because an Account is inactive.
17.5 Items we hold for an inactive Account remain yours. We will keep holding them for you, resend trade offers for them from time to time, and show a notice when you next sign in. You can claim them at any time. If a law on unclaimed property requires us to deal with them in another way, we will follow that law and tell you.
17.6 Because we know only your Steam identity unless you have given us more, we contact you through Steam trade offers, notices on the Service and, if you have given us an email address (for example during verification), by email.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - there is no inactivity tracking, contact process or handling of long-held items. Counsel should confirm how unclaimed items must be treated under Curaçao law.18. Promotions and referrals
18.1 Promotions are governed by the Promotions and Referral Terms and by the specific terms of each promotion, in the order of precedence set out in clause 1.2. You must accept a promotion's terms before you take part.
18.2 Referral codes. Each Account has a referral code, which is created automatically the first time you open your Profile page and is shown there. An Account can record another user's referral code once. A code cannot be applied to your own Account, and once a code has been recorded it cannot be replaced or removed. Referral counts shown are real counts of recorded referrals.
18.3 No referral rewards are active. No referral rewards are credited. A "2.5%" figure that may appear on the Profile page relates to a planned promotion that is not active. It gives no reward and never changes the chances, results, house fee or payouts of any round.
18.4 Steam display-name tag. The Profile page may check whether your Steam display name contains "rust50.com". This check exists only for the eligibility of a possible future promotion. It gives no reward now and never changes the chances, results, house fee or payouts of any round.
Drafting note: before any reward is attached to the referral field or the display-name tag, review both against the CGA rules on marketing that could appeal to minors (Steam accounts are available from age 13) and against LOK art. 5.6, and publish full terms under the Promotions and Referral Terms.18.5 Mazalito. The "Mazalito" giveaway exists only as a test feature in test mode. No real draw takes place and no real prize is given. In the test version, an entry window of 3 minutes opens every hour, entry needs a simulated qualifying deposit of USD 5, the prize is one simulated catalogue item valued at USD 1 to 3, and the winner is drawn at random from the entrants. Test draws include entrants that are labelled test bots. The test draw uses a cryptographic random number generator, but it is not provably fair and cannot be checked in the Round checker. A real draw will happen only under separately published terms that you accept before entering, after any consent our licence requires (clause 4.6), and no test bots or other non-players will ever enter a real draw.
Drafting note: before any real Mazalito draw, the draw must have full published rules, explicit opt-in, a certified or provably fair random selection and no test entrants, and counsel must confirm whether a deposit-gated draw is a separate game of chance that needs CGA consent (licence conditions art. 4).18.6 No promotion changes the chances or the result of any round. No promotion is offered during a cooling-off period or self-exclusion, or to persuade you to end one.
18.7 Promotional prizes, if any are offered in the future, will be items and will have no cash alternative unless the promotion's terms say otherwise.
19. Responsible gambling
19.1 The Responsible Gambling Policy forms part of these Terms. It explains how to recognise problem gambling, where to get help, and how to use the tools below. Wherever it is more protective of you than these Terms, it prevails (clause 1.2).
19.2 Tools. The Responsible Gambling Policy sets out the full set of player-protection tools, the options for each of them and the rules on when a change takes effect. You will be able to:
- set a deposit limit: a daily, weekly or monthly limit on the total item value you deposit (stake);
- set a loss limit: a daily, weekly or monthly limit on your net loss;
- set a single-stake limit on the item value you can put into any one round;
- set a session limit, which stops you creating or joining rounds once you have played for the time you chose;
- choose reality checks, which pause play at the interval you chose to show how long you have played and your results;
- take a cooling-off break (time-out) of 24 hours, 7 days, 1 month or 3 months, starting at once, during which your Account is locked;
- self-exclude for 1, 3, 5 or 10 years, or for life. Self-exclusion lasts at least 12 months and cannot be cancelled during the period you chose; and
- see your history (clause 8.15) and take a self-assessment test.
A new limit, or a change that makes a limit stricter, applies at once. A higher limit, or removing a limit, a session limit or reality checks, applies only after 7 days. A cooling-off break or a self-exclusion cannot be shortened. If more than one tool applies, the strictest setting wins.
19.3 Effect of self-exclusion. Self-exclusion applies to all our domains. When it starts, your open rounds are cancelled, the items we hold for you are returned within 2 business days (subject to clause 7), and you are removed from all marketing. A round already in progress when you set a limit or exclusion is completed. When a self-exclusion ends, your Account reopens only if you ask us in writing.
19.4 Our role. We watch for signs of harmful play and may contact you, suggest or apply limits, or suspend your Account to protect you.
19.5 For help, or to use a tool before it is available on the Service, write to responsible-gambling@rust50.com. Responsible gambling requests sent to that address, such as a request to self-exclude, take a break, or set or lower a limit, are applied on receipt, and at the latest within 24 hours of receiving them, at any time of day and on any day of the week. They are never questioned, and we confirm in writing what we applied and when it took effect. A request to raise or remove a limit takes effect only after the 7-day delay in clause 19.2. A complaint about responsible gambling is acknowledged within two days (clause 25.4(c)).
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - cooling-off, self-exclusion, deposit, loss, single-stake and session limits, reality checks, duplicate-account blocking for excluded players, a self-assessment tool and behaviour tracking do not exist. Until they are built, they must be provided manually through responsible-gambling@rust50.com, and they must be built before any real round (LOK art. 5.4; CGA Responsible Gaming Policy).20. Personal data and retention of communications
20.1 How we collect, use, share and keep personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy. The Cookie and Local Storage Policy explains the cookies and browser storage the Service uses. For personal data, those two policies prevail over these Terms (clause 1.2).
20.2 In summary, we store your SteamID64, display name, avatar address and trade URL; whether you are banned or muted; when your Steam sign-in was verified; when your Account was created and last used; your rounds (participants, items, item values, seeds, rolls, results, house fees, trade offer identifiers and times); your trade offers; your referral code and who referred whom; the results of Steam display-name checks; and server logs and rate-limit counters, which include IP addresses. Moderation actions and their reasons are kept in our audit log.
20.3 Your display name, avatar, rounds, items, item values and results are public (clause 8.14).
20.4 Retention. Fairness records are never rewritten (clause 9.5). We keep other records as follows:
- transaction records (rounds, trade offers and house fees) are kept for at least five years after each transaction (clause 7.11);
- identification and customer due diligence records are kept for at least five years after our business relationship with you ends (clause 7.11);
- the records in (a) and (b) are kept for up to ten years if the FIU or another competent authority orders it;
- the moderation audit log is kept for five years after your Account is closed, and in any case for at least five years from the date of each entry;
- referral records are deleted or anonymised within 90 days after either the referring or the referred Account is closed, unless they are needed for a fraud or anti-money laundering investigation, in which case they are kept for up to five years; and
- an Account that becomes inactive is dealt with under clause 17.
The Privacy Policy gives the retention period for each type of record.
20.5 Chat messages are kept only as described in clause 15.6. Emails and complaints you send us are kept as described in the Privacy Policy and the Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure.
21. Intellectual property, Valve and Facepunch
21.1 The RUST50/50 name and logo, the design of the Service, its text and its software belong to us or to our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose under these Terms.
21.2 You must not copy, frame, scrape, modify or distribute any part of the Service, except that you may record and recompute round data to verify results, and share round numbers and verification results.
21.3 Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks of Valve Corporation. Rust is a trademark of Facepunch Studios. Item names and images belong to their owners and are used only to identify items.
21.4 RUST50/50 is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by Valve Corporation or Facepunch Studios.
21.5 Your agreements with Valve and Facepunch. Your Steam account and your items are governed by your agreements with Valve, including the Steam Subscriber Agreement and the Steam Online Conduct rules, and by the Rust end user licence agreement of Facepunch Studios. Under those terms, items are licensed rather than sold, and Valve and Facepunch may change, restrict or remove them. Valve's Steam Online Conduct rules list gambling among prohibited commercial activities, and the Rust end user licence agreement allows virtual items to be traded only where Facepunch and the platform permit. Using items on the Service may therefore breach your agreements with Valve or Facepunch, and Valve or Facepunch may restrict or end your Steam account, your trading or your items. You accept that risk, and we cannot protect you from action taken by Valve or Facepunch.
Drafting note: counsel must review clause 21.5 and the wider conflict between the business model and Valve's and Facepunch's terms (Steam Online Conduct rules, Steam Subscriber Agreement on commercial use and automation, Steam Web API Terms, Valve's 2016 statements on gambling sites). A CGA licence does not resolve this conflict. Re-read the Valve and Facepunch documents at launch.21.6 If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without paying you.
22. Third-party services and availability
22.1 Steam. Sign-in, inventories and trades depend on Steam, which Valve operates independently of us. Steam can be unavailable, slow, under maintenance or limiting requests, and Valve can change how Steam works at any time. While Steam is unavailable you may be unable to sign in, load your inventory, stake items or receive payouts.
22.2 Other providers. We use service providers to run the Service, including Cloudflare for network delivery and security, and an EU data centre operator for hosting. They are listed in the Privacy Policy.
22.3 Availability. We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may suspend all or part of the Service, for example new rounds, for maintenance, security, legal reasons or problems with Steam. Rounds in progress are then handled under clause 13.
22.4 Your equipment. You need a current web browser with JavaScript enabled and a Steam account with the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator. You are responsible for your device and internet connection.
22.5 We are not responsible for the content, availability or practices of third-party websites or services, including Steam, except as these Terms say.
23. Limitation of liability
23.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, for deliberate wrongdoing or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Nothing limits our obligation to return items we hold for you, or to deliver winnings you won under these Terms.
23.2 Subject to clause 23.1, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by:
- Steam or Valve, including outages, trade holds, trade restrictions, account bans and changes to Steam;
- Facepunch or Valve changing, restricting or removing items;
- changes in the market value of items;
- your failure to keep your Steam account and devices secure, or your breach of these Terms;
- problems with your device, software or internet connection;
- other players or third parties, including people who pretend to be us; or
- our compliance with the law, a court order or a regulator's instruction.
23.3 Subject to clause 23.1, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity, goodwill or data.
23.4 Subject to clause 23.1, our total liability to you for a claim, or for a series of connected claims, is limited to:
- for a claim about a round, the total item value, as recorded for that round, of the items you staked in it; and
- for any other claim, the total item value of the items you staked in rounds during the three months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
23.5 Nothing in this clause shortens any time limit set by law for bringing a claim, or removes any right that mandatory law gives you as a consumer.
Drafting note: counsel must confirm that clauses 23 and 24 are enforceable under Curaçao law and under the consumer law of the markets that will be served.24. Indemnity
24.1 You agree to compensate us for loss, damage, reasonable costs (including reasonable legal costs) and fines that we suffer because of your breach of these Terms, your fraud, your unlawful use of the Service, or your infringement of someone else's rights, to the extent that you caused them and they were not caused by our own breach or negligence.
24.2 We will tell you promptly about any claim to which clause 24.1 may apply, and we will act reasonably to limit the loss.
24.3 This clause applies only as far as the law allows.
25. Complaints and disputes
25.1 The Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure forms part of these Terms and gives full details. For complaint handling it prevails over these Terms (clause 1.2). This clause summarises it.
25.2 Contact support first. Most problems can be solved quickly by support at support@rust50.com. We aim to reply within within 24 hours.
25.3 Making a formal complaint. Complaints are free. You may complain up to 6 months after the round settled or the incident happened. Use the complaint form in the Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure or write to complaints@rust50.com, giving:
- your name, address and place of residence;
- your SteamID64 (your account number);
- the date of the complaint and the date of the event;
- the round number or numbers, where relevant; and
- a description of the problem and what you would like us to do.
You may write in English, Dutch or Papiamentu. Only the player who holds the Account may complain, and claims against us cannot be transferred to anyone else.
25.4 Our timetable.
- We acknowledge your complaint in writing within one week, explain how we will handle it and tell you the average time we take to resolve complaints.
- We send you a reasoned final decision in writing within 4 weeks. If we need longer, we may extend this once, by up to 4 weeks, after telling you in writing before the first 4 weeks end. If we need more information from you, we ask for it within the first 4 weeks.
- Complaints about responsible gambling, such as a failure of self-exclusion or cooling-off, or marketing aimed at a vulnerable person, are acknowledged within two days. We make our best efforts to resolve them within 5 business days, and in any case within 2 weeks (plus up to 2 more weeks if we are waiting for your reply).
25.5 If we use automated tools to help handle complaints, responsible gambling complaints and complex complaints are always decided by a person.
25.6 While a complaint is open we keep the relevant records, and we keep holding any items in dispute.
25.7 Independent dispute resolution. If you are not satisfied with our final decision, you may refer the dispute, free of charge, to our independent alternative dispute resolution ("ADR") provider, the Cyprus Consumer Protection Service (Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry), whose contact details are given in the Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure. We pay all costs of the ADR procedure. Our final decision will tell you how to do this.
25.8 Once a dispute has been completed with an ADR provider, it cannot be started again with another ADR provider, and if you withdraw from an ADR procedure you may not raise the same dispute in ADR again. The Complaints and Dispute Resolution procedure explains whether the ADR decision is binding and what effect it has on your right to go to court.
Drafting note: name a CGA-certified ADR provider only after checking the CGA register, and align clauses 25.7 and 25.8 with the signed ADR agreement and the CGA ADR Policy (binding effect, deadlines, any minimum claim value). The ADR agreement must be uploaded to the CGA portal.25.9 Courts. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from going to court, except as the agreed ADR terms permit.
25.10 The CGA. The CGA does not decide individual disputes about rounds or items, and it does not review our decisions or ADR decisions unless a complaint was handled inadequately. You may contact the CGA about malpractice, breaches of our licence or to blow the whistle, and we will not restrict you from doing so.
26. Governing law and jurisdiction
26.1 These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising from them or from your use of the Service, are governed by the law of Curaçao, in line with article 5.5 of the National Ordinance on Games of Chance.
26.2 Subject to clause 25, the competent court in Curaçao has jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service.
26.3 This clause does not remove any protection that mandatory law gives you and that cannot be excluded by agreement.
27. Language
27.1 These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation and it differs from the English version, the English version prevails, as far as the law allows.
27.2 We communicate with you in English. You may write a complaint in English, Dutch or Papiamentu (clause 25.3).
Drafting note: licence conditions art. 11(2) and 12(2) require the Terms and the public information to be available in the language of each target market where that is not English. Either limit marketing to English-language markets or add reviewed translations.28. General provisions
28.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, with the documents listed in clause 1.2, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. They replace any earlier agreement or statement, including the short preview terms shown in the lobby.
28.2 Severability. If a court or authority finds any part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, that part is changed as little as necessary to make it enforceable, or removed, and the rest of these Terms continues to apply.
28.3 Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another company that holds any licence needed to run the Service, if this does not reduce your rights. We will tell you before we do. You may not transfer, sell, give away or pledge your Account, your rights under these Terms or any claim against us.
28.4 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
28.5 Events outside our control. We are not responsible for a delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages or decisions at Steam, cyberattacks despite reasonable security measures, natural disasters, war, or orders of an authority. Our obligations are suspended while the event lasts. Our obligation to return items we hold for you continues, and we will meet it as soon as the event allows.
28.6 Notices. We send notices to you on the Service, usually when you next sign in, and by email if you have given us an email address. You send notices to us using the contact details in clause 29.
28.7 Third parties. Nobody other than you and us has rights under these Terms.
28.8 Survival. Clauses that by their nature continue after your Account is closed, including clauses 7, 12, 13, 14, 20 and 23 to 26, continue to apply.
28.9 Records. Our round, trade offer and audit records are evidence of what happened on the Service, unless you show that they are wrong. You can check fairness records yourself with the Round checker.

Annex A. Restricted territories
A.1 You may not play if you live in, or are located in, any of the following countries or regions:
- United States of America (all states);
- United Kingdom;
- Netherlands;
- France;
- Germany;
- Spain;
- Italy;
- Belgium;
- Denmark;
- Sweden;
- Portugal;
- Australia;
- Curaçao;
- any country on the Financial Action Task Force list of high-risk jurisdictions subject to a call for action, including North Korea, Iran and Myanmar;
- any country or region subject to comprehensive United Nations, European Union or United States sanctions, including Cuba, Syria, and Crimea and the other occupied regions of Ukraine; and
- any other jurisdiction where taking part in online gambling, or gambling with in-game items, is prohibited by law.
A.2 We may add a territory to this list at any time when the law requires it. If we do, you must stop playing from that territory, and we will return any items we hold for you. Removing a territory from the list requires a new version of these Terms.
Drafting note: this list comes from desk research and must be confirmed by counsel before publication. In particular, confirm whether CGA licensees may serve Curaçao residents (no prohibition was found in the LOK text; secondary sources conflict), check the current FATF and sanctions lists, and decide on other markets with their own licensing regimes or skin-gambling enforcement. Geoblocking and address checks must match the final list (clause 5.3).Annex B. Version history
| Version | Effective date | Summary of changes |
|---|---|---|
| 0.1 (draft) | 5 November 2026 | First full draft, prepared before licensing. Not in force. Replaces nothing yet; the short preview terms in the lobby apply to test mode until this version takes effect. |
B.1 Earlier versions are available on request under clause 3.8.
