Promotions and Referral Terms
1. About these terms
1.1 These terms apply to every promotion, referral feature and giveaway on RUST50/50 at https://rust50.com (the "Site"), operated by Rust50 Entertainment Ltd ("we", "us"). They form part of our Terms. Under the order of precedence in Terms clause 1.2, these terms prevail over the Terms on promotions and referrals, and a specific promotion's own rules prevail for that promotion (clause 1.2 below). Any other conflict between these terms and the Terms or another policy is decided by the order set out in Terms clause 1.2.
1.2 Each future promotion will also have its own specific rules. If the specific rules differ from these general terms, the specific rules apply to that promotion, as Terms clause 1.2 provides.
1.3 Before you take part in any promotion that can give you a reward, you will be asked to accept its terms actively, for example by ticking a box. Simply using the Site does not count as acceptance. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - the Site has no step yet in which a player accepts promotion terms, and no record of acceptances by version. Both are needed before any promotion with a reward is launched.1.4 Promotions are subject to the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK, P.B. 2024 no. 157), article 5.6 of which requires that advertising and bonuses do not encourage excessive play, do not mislead and do not target vulnerable persons. Promotions are also subject to our Responsible Gambling Policy.
2. Key terms
- Promotion: any offer, programme, giveaway or reward we run on or through the Site.
- Reward: anything you could receive from a promotion, such as a prize item.
- Referral code: the unique code of letters and numbers created automatically the first time you open your Profile page, and shown there.
- Referrer: the account whose code is recorded. Referred account: the account that records it.
- Qualifying deposit: a deposit of Steam items that meets a promotion's minimum value, valued in US dollars using the Steam Community Market.
- Entry window: the period in which entries to a draw are accepted.
- Draw: the random selection of a winner from the valid entries.
- Eligible account: an account that meets section 4 and the specific promotion's rules.
- Test account and test bot: accounts and automated entrants that exist only to test the Site. They are not players.
3. What is active today
3.1 No promotion with a reward is active. No rewards, credits, commissions or prizes of value are paid or accrued. The Site is a test preview in which real Steam trading is disabled and items are simulated.
| Feature | Status | Section |
|---|---|---|
| Referral codes and referral counts | Live: records referrals only. No rewards. | 7 and 8 |
| "2.5%" promotional reward field | Inactive. Nothing is credited, and it never changes odds. | 7.9 to 7.11 |
| Steam display-name check ("rust50.com") | Live as a check only, for possible future eligibility. No reward. | 9 |
| Mazalito hourly giveaway | Not active. A labelled test event exists in the preview only. | 10 and 11 |
4. Who can take part
4.1 To take part in any promotion with a reward, you must:
- be at least 18, or the age of majority or the legal gambling age where you live, if that is higher;
- not live in, or take part from, a territory restricted under our Terms;
- hold one account only, registered personally by you and used only by you;
- have completed any identity checks we require;
- not be self-excluded, in a cooling-off period, or excluded or restricted by us; and
- not be one of our employees or other key persons, or anyone acting for them.
4.2 Test accounts and test bots can never take part in a promotion with a real reward.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - age verification, identity checks, territory blocking, self-exclusion and cooling-off do not exist on the Site yet. Until they do, no promotion with a reward may be launched.5. General promotion rules
5.1 Each promotion's specific rules will state clearly: what the promotion is; when it starts and ends; who is eligible; what you must do; what the reward is and its value; any wagering requirement and how it is calculated; when and how the reward is delivered; any expiry date; and when a reward may be withheld or forfeited.
5.2 Rewards are given in Steam items by trade offer, like all payouts on the Site. We offer no cash alternative, and we do not exchange rewards for cash, cryptocurrency or other items. Any reward that cannot be exchanged or withdrawn will be identified as such in the specific rules.
5.3 Reward values are stated in US dollars using the Steam Community Market at the time stated in the rules. Market prices change, and we do not guarantee that any item has a cash value.
5.4 We will never rush you into a promotion. You will always be able to read the full terms before you take part. Apart from the timers that show when an entry window or a trade offer closes, we will not use countdowns or messages designed to pressure you into depositing.
5.5 We will never offer a promotion to persuade you to end, shorten or skip a cooling-off period or self-exclusion, or offer any promotion while one is running.
5.6 Rewards are personal and cannot be transferred, sold or assigned to anyone else.
5.7 Any tax due on a reward in your country is your responsibility.
5.8 If an obvious error is made in a promotion, such as a wrong prize being shown or a reward being sent to the wrong account, we may correct it. We will tell you what happened.
6. Promotions never affect results
6.1 No promotion, referral, display-name check, giveaway, admin control or test control can change a round result, the odds, the seeds, the fee or a payout. Every coinflip result is decided by the provably fair calculation on our Fairness page, using only the round's seeds, nonce and stake values.
6.2 Taking part in a promotion gives no extra chance of winning a round, and not taking part takes nothing away. A Mazalito draw is separate from coinflip rounds and does not affect them.
7. The referral programme
Your code and link
7.1 Your referral code is created automatically the first time you open your Profile page, and is shown there. The Profile page also gives a referral link in the form https://rust50.com/profile.html?ref=<your code>.
7.2 When someone opens your link, the Profile page fills in your code for them and keeps it in that browser tab, in session storage under the name "rust50.pendingReferral", until a referral is recorded on the account or the tab is closed. Opening a link records nothing. A referral is recorded only when a signed-in user presses the "Apply" button on the Profile page.
Drafting note: research indicates that keeping a referral code in session storage before the user has confirmed it is a grey area under EU and UK cookie rules, because it mainly serves the referrer and the operator. Consider writing "rust50.pendingReferral" only after the user confirms the code, or asking for consent, and keep this clause in line with the Cookie and Local Storage Policy.Applying a code
7.3 An account can record one referral code, once. After that, it cannot be changed or removed by the player.
7.4 The Site refuses a code if it is not in a valid format (12 to 32 letters and digits), if no account has that code, if it is your own code, or if your account has already recorded a code. Banned accounts cannot view their Profile or apply codes.
7.5 Codes are not case-sensitive. Spaces before or after the code are ignored.
7.6 The programme is intended for new players.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - at present, any account that has not yet recorded a code can record one, however old it is. If referrals are to be limited to new accounts (for example, accounts that have not yet played a round), that rule must be implemented before any referral reward is attached.Referral counts
7.7 Your Profile page shows the number of accounts that have recorded your code. It does not show who they are. The count is the actual number recorded. It is never padded or simulated. In the preview it can include test accounts, and the Profile page says so.
7.8 A referred account's Profile shows that a referral was recorded and which code was used.
The inactive "2.5%" field
7.9 The Profile page shows a promotion field with the figure 2.5%, labelled "Promotional reward eligibility". It is inactive. No reward, commission or credit of any kind is calculated, credited, accrued or owed under it, and it never changes your odds or anyone else's.
7.10 If your Steam display-name check under section 9 is current and positive, the field shows "Qualified / payouts inactive". This does not mean any reward is due.
7.11 If a referral reward is ever launched, it will have published terms that you must accept first. Activity before its launch earns nothing, unless those terms expressly say otherwise.
Drafting note: before any referral reward is launched, define what the 2.5% would be calculated on, any cap, how it is delivered in items, and how it fits the CGA's rules on bonuses and anti-money-laundering. Referrals between linked accounts are an obvious collusion risk. Consider hiding the figure until then, so that it cannot be read as an offer (LOK article 5.6).8. Sharing your referral code responsibly
8.1 You may share your code or link with people you know who are of legal age and allowed to play where they live. When you share it, you must not:
- share it with anyone under 18, or anywhere aimed at, or popular with, minors;
- share it with anyone you know to be self-excluded or to have a gambling problem;
- say or suggest that winning is guaranteed, that stakes double, that the Site is a way to make money or solve money problems, or that skill affects the result;
- claim to speak for RUST50/50, or suggest that Valve, Steam, Facepunch or Rust endorse the Site;
- send spam, unsolicited bulk messages or messages through other people's accounts;
- buy advertising that uses our name or brand without our written agreement; or
- post your code or link on Steam. Valve's Steam Online Conduct rules prohibit gambling and other commercial activity on Steam, and Valve could restrict your Steam account.
8.2 You are responsible for what you write when you share your code. We may disregard referrals obtained in breach of this section.
8.3 Anyone who promotes the Site for payment or other benefit, such as an affiliate or influencer, needs a separate written agreement with us. They must be adults and their audiences must not be made up of minors. Their content must be age-gated, clearly labelled as gambling advertising and follow our Responsible Gambling Policy. We are responsible for making sure that our affiliates and influencers follow these rules.
9. The Steam display-name check
9.1 The Profile page has a "Check Steam name" button. It checks whether your current Steam display name contains the tag "rust50.com". The same check decides whether you can enter Mazalito (clause 10.5A): pressing "Join" in the Mazalito panel runs it automatically. It gives no other reward, and you never need to change your Steam name to play rounds or use the rest of the Site.
9.2 How the check works:
- It is available only to accounts signed in with a verified Steam identity, and only when the operator has configured access to the Steam Web API. Test accounts cannot be checked.
- The Site asks the Steam Web API for your public Steam display name and looks for the tag. Case does not matter.
- The tag must stand on its own. It must not be joined to a letter, digit, dot, hyphen or underscore on either side. For example, "Alex rust50.com", "[rust50.com] Alex" and "RUST50.COM" pass. "Alexrust50.com", "my-rust50.com" and "rust50.com.au" do not.
- We store the Steam ID checked, the display name returned, the result (tag present, tag missing, or check unavailable) and the time of the check.
- A result counts as current for five minutes. You can ask for a new check at most once every 60 seconds.
9.3 Removing the tag, or never adding it, has no effect on your account, your rounds or your odds. Its only effect is that you cannot enter Mazalito while the tag is missing.
9.4 Displaying the name of a gambling site in your Steam name may breach Valve's rules on commercial activity, and Valve may act against Steam accounts that do so. If you add the tag, you do so at your own risk.
Drafting note: the owner has decided that Mazalito entry requires the tag (clause 10.5A). Review this before any real Mazalito draw. Rewarding players for advertising the Site in their Steam names, where many Steam users are under 18, risks appealing to minors in breach of LOK article 5.6 and the CGA Responsible Gaming Policy. It may also conflict with Valve's rules. The Profile page currently describes rust50.com as a future domain that is not yet owned or connected. That text must be updated to match this page.10. The planned Mazalito hourly giveaway
Status
10.1 Mazalito is not active. No real Mazalito draw has taken place, and no real prize has been given. Clauses 10.4 to 10.18 describe the rules we intend to use if Mazalito launches. They do not apply until we announce a launch and publish final rules, which you will need to accept.
10.2 The preview contains a Mazalito test event, labelled "TEST EVENT". Its prizes are simulated, and it involves no real deposits or Steam transfers. Only the owner's test identity can qualify, using a simulated qualifying deposit. Each test event is also entered by up to eight automated test bots, which join at 15-second intervals and are labelled "TEST BOT". Test bots are software, not players, and their entries are not real activity. The owner can also start an extra test event at other times from the owner console. Every test event, and every draw in it, is simulated.
10.3 If the owner's test identity wins a test event, a simulated item is added to the test inventory. If a test bot wins, nothing is given.
Intended rules: entry
10.4 Entry window. A window opens at the start of every hour (on the hour, UTC) and stays open for three minutes. The Mazalito panel shows a countdown. Entries are refused once the window has closed.
10.5 Qualifying deposit. To enter, your eligible account must have made a qualifying deposit of Steam items worth at least USD 5, as valued by the Steam Community Market. A deposit counts only once Steam has completed the trade. The qualifying deposit is not used up by entering, and entry costs nothing more.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - define the qualifying period and how qualification is counted. We recommend counting only items staked in a round that actually settled within a stated period, so that creating and cancelling a round does not qualify. The CGA lists deposits withdrawn after little or no play as a money-laundering risk. Also decide whether one deposit qualifies for one draw or for many.10.5A Name tag. To enter, your name must contain "rust50.com" when you press "Join". For a Steam account this is your current Steam display name, checked with Steam as described in section 9; for a test identity it is the name shown on the Site. If the tag is missing, the entry is refused and you can try again after adding it (Steam names are checked at most once a minute). Removing the tag after entering does not cancel that entry. The same rule applies in the preview test event.
10.6 One entry. Each eligible account may enter each draw once, by pressing "Join" during the entry window. Further presses do nothing. Banned accounts cannot enter.
Intended rules: prize
10.7 Each draw has one prize: one catalogue item valued at USD 1 to USD 3 by the Steam Community Market. The prize is chosen at random from the eligible catalogue items when the window opens, and it is shown in the panel during the window.
10.8 The prize is a Steam item only. There is no cash alternative, and the prize cannot be exchanged. Changes in the item's market value after the draw do not change the prize.
Intended rules: draw and announcement
10.9 When the window closes, one winner is drawn at random from all valid entries. Every entry has the same chance, so with N entries each has a chance of 1 in N. For example, with 12 entries each has a chance of about 8.3%.
10.10 The draw uses the server's cryptographically secure random number generator. Test bots, test accounts and entries found invalid under section 12 are never included in a real draw.
10.11 If there are no valid entries, there is no winner, and the prize is not carried over to a later draw.
10.12 After the draw, the Mazalito panel shows the number of entrants and the winner's Steam display name. Each draw is recorded in our audit log, with the draw reference, the winning account and the number of entrants. When you enter, your Steam display name appears in the public list of entrants for that draw. The Mazalito panel will tell you this before you join.
Drafting note: the Privacy Policy must describe the public entrant and winner lists. Consider showing shortened or masked names instead of full Steam display names.Intended rules: delivery
10.13 The prize is sent by trade offer to the Steam trade URL saved on the winning account. You must accept it within 3 days. If the offer fails or expires, you can ask for it to be sent again.
10.14 Prizes must be claimed within 30 days after the draw. If a Steam trade hold or restriction stops you from accepting in time, contact support@rust50.com before the period ends, and we will extend it for as long as the hold lasts. Prizes not claimed in time, with no extension, are forfeited.
10.15 Before delivering a prize, we may run identity, age, territory and sanctions checks. A prize won by an account that fails them is forfeited, and the player is told why.
Intended rules: interruptions and unavailable prizes
10.16 If the Site is interrupted while an entry window is open, for example by a server restart, only entries received before the window closed count. The draw takes place among those entries as soon as the Site is running again. An interruption never adds entries or extends a window.
10.17 If the prize item cannot be delivered for reasons outside the winner's control, for example because Valve or Facepunch has changed or removed it, we will offer the winner a different catalogue item of at least the same value, as valued by the Steam Community Market on the day of the draw. There is still no cash alternative.
10.18 If a draw is found to have been run incorrectly, for example because an ineligible entry was included, we will tell the affected entrants, explain what happened and decide how to correct it in line with clause 5.8. Draw records are never rewritten. Any correction is recorded separately.
11. Before any real Mazalito draw
11.1 Mazalito will not run with real deposits or real prizes until every requirement in this section has been met.
Drafting note: provable fairness - the current draw uses a cryptographically secure random number but is not yet provably fair. Before any real draw, add a commit-and-reveal scheme like the one used for rounds: publish the hash of a draw seed when the window opens, then publish the seed, the full entrant list and the calculation after the draw, so that anyone can check the winner. Also obtain certification of the draw by a CGA-approved testing laboratory. Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - a guarantee that test bots and test accounts can never enter a real draw. In the preview, labelled test bots enter every event. That must never happen in a real draw, and the separation should be technically enforced and tested, not left to configuration. Drafting note: regulatory consent - a deposit-gated hourly draw may count as a separate game of chance or a new feature. It needs the CGA's prior consent (licence conditions, article 4), a documented risk assessment under the CGA anti-money-laundering regulations, and a responsible gambling review of whether hourly draws encourage players to come back too often.11.2 When Mazalito launches, it will follow our Responsible Gambling Policy. Self-excluded players and players in a cooling-off period cannot enter. We will not send reminders or notifications urging you to join a draw.
12. Abuse and forfeiture
12.1 The following are abuse of a promotion:
- holding or using more than one account, including to refer yourself through a second account;
- colluding with others, for example passing value between linked accounts to create referrals or qualifying deposits;
- buying, selling or trading referral codes, accounts, entries or prizes;
- using bots, scripts or other automation to enter draws, apply codes or run checks;
- using a VPN, proxy, false details or another person's identity to get around eligibility rules;
- exploiting a bug or error to gain a reward, instead of reporting it; and
- breaking section 8 when sharing your code.
12.2 If we reasonably believe that abuse has taken place, we may: refuse or cancel entries; disregard referral records for reward purposes; withhold, cancel or reclaim rewards obtained through the abuse; exclude the account from promotions; take action under our Terms, including suspension or closure; and report the matter to the authorities where the law requires.
12.3 Forfeiture under these terms applies only to promotional rewards and prizes. Your own staked items and your round winnings are dealt with only under our Terms.
12.4 We decide on the evidence. We will tell you the decision in writing, with our reasons, unless the law prevents it. You can challenge any decision under our Complaints procedure.
13. Changes, suspension and cancellation
13.1 We may change, suspend or end a promotion: to comply with the law or an instruction from a regulator; because of a technical fault, fraud or abuse; or for another valid reason. Except for urgent legal, security or fraud reasons, we will give reasonable notice on the Site first.
13.2 Changes do not apply retroactively to your disadvantage. Rewards earned under the rules in force before a change or cancellation will be honoured, unless they were obtained through abuse or an obvious error.
13.3 For material changes, we will tell you which clauses changed and when the change takes effect, and ask you to accept the new terms again. If you do not accept them, you can stop taking part, and we will explain what that means for you.
13.4 We keep every version of these terms and will send you an earlier version on request.
14. Responsible play and promotions
14.1 A promotion is never a reason to play, to play more often or to stake more than you can afford to lose. A prize is a small extra, not a way to recover losses. Every coinflip round can be lost, whatever promotion is running, and the house fee applies to every settled round.
14.2 The planned Mazalito prize is worth USD 1 to USD 3, while the qualifying deposit is worth at least USD 5. Items you stake in rounds can be lost. Do not deposit only to enter a draw.
14.3 You can take part in a coinflip round without taking part in any promotion. Promotions are never a condition of using the Site.
14.4 The limits, cooling-off and self-exclusion tools described in our Responsible Gambling Policy apply to promotions in the same way as to rounds. When a tool is active, you cannot enter a draw or receive a promotional reward, and we will not contact you about promotions.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - deposit limits, cooling-off and self-exclusion do not exist on the Site yet, so clause 14.4 cannot be met until they do. The promotion and draw code must also check these tools before accepting an entry or delivering a reward.14.5 If you are worried about your gambling, or someone else's, contact responsible-gambling@rust50.com. Our Responsible Gambling Policy lists organisations that offer free, confidential help.
15. Promotion records and your data
15.1 To run the referral programme and the display-name check, we store:
- your account's referral code and the time it was created;
- if you applied a code, a record linking your account to the referrer's account, with the time it was recorded; and
- for each display-name check, the Steam ID checked, the display name Steam returned, the result and the time of the check. Each new check replaces the previous record for your account.
15.2 If Mazalito launches, we will also store, for each draw, the entry window, the prize, every entry (account, display name and time of entry), the winner, the time of the draw and the trade offer used to deliver the prize.
15.3 We use these records only to run promotions, to check eligibility, to detect and prevent abuse under section 12, to deal with complaints and to meet our legal duties. We do not sell them. Referral records are kept while both accounts are open, and are deleted or anonymised within 90 days after either account is closed, unless they are needed for a fraud or anti-money-laundering investigation, in which case they are kept for up to five years. Only your latest display-name check is kept; each new check replaces it, and it is deleted with your account record. How long we keep the other records, and your rights over them, are explained in our Privacy Policy.
Drafting note: set a retention period for draw records in the Privacy Policy, and make sure that draw records needed for complaints, audits and the CGA are kept for at least as long as round records.16. Marketing consent
16.1 We do not currently send marketing messages. Signing in with Steam does not give us your email address or other contact details.
16.2 We will send you marketing only if you have opted in, separately from accepting our Terms and with a box that is not ticked in advance. You can withdraw consent at any time, at no cost, using the link in each message or by writing to privacy@rust50.com. Withdrawing has no effect on your account or your play.
16.3 We will never send marketing to anyone under 18, anyone who is self-excluded or in a cooling-off period, anyone in a restricted territory, or anyone we have identified as at risk of gambling harm.
16.4 All our marketing, including notices on the Site, will be accurate. It will not encourage excessive play, will not present gambling as a way to make money, and will not use content that appeals to minors.
Drafting note: requires implementation before launch - opt-in consent capture, a suppression list that excludes self-excluded and cooling-off players, and training for anyone who markets the Site, as the CGA Responsible Gaming Policy requires.17. Complaints and contact
17.1 Complaints about a promotion, referral, display-name check or draw are handled under our Complaints procedure. Send them to complaints@rust50.com, quoting your SteamID64 and, for a draw, its date and hour.
17.2 For general questions, contact support@rust50.com. For marketing preferences and personal data, contact privacy@rust50.com.
